About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Tucson’s East 6th Street, Tumerico is a standout beacon for those seeking authentic, health-conscious Latin American flavors with a modern, mindful twist. Specializing in vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and organic Mexican cuisine, Tumerico elevates traditional dishes through innovative plant-based ingredients and an unwavering commitment to freshness and quality.

From the moment you step inside, the warm, inviting atmosphere envelopes you like a comforting embrace — a feeling echoed repeatedly by guests who describe Tumerico as a home away from home. The friendly staff and Chef Wendy’s genuine hospitality set the stage for a memorable dining experience that nourishes both body and soul.

The menu reads like a vibrant celebration of Latin American culinary heritage reimagined through wholesome, accessible options. Standout dishes such as the Al Pastor Tacos and the iconic Tamale Plate are brimming with rich, authentic flavors yet remain delightfully light and nourishing. The cherished Jackfruit Tacos, lovingly prepared with sweet tangy garlic cilantro sauce and paired with creamy guacamole and cashew cream, showcase Tumerico’s mastery in crafting plant-based carnitas that please even the most devoted meat-eaters.

Breakfast here is a revelation — offerings like Huevos Rancheros made with eggs or tofu, and the hearty Machaca Huevos featuring shredded jackfruit sautéed with fresh salsa, invite you to start the day with bold, satisfying layers of taste and texture. The Chilaquiles, layered with house-made corn chips, red chili sauce, mushrooms, and cashew cream, deliver a comforting yet healthful indulgence that leaves patrons eager for their next visit.

The beverage menu is equally inventive and soul-soothing. Unique espresso creations such as the Lavender Latte, Mole Latte rich with cocoa and cinnamon, and the subtly sweet, mesquite-infused Prickly Pear Latte offer a sensory journey through exotic, local flavors perfectly balanced with plant-based milk.

Dessert lovers will be delighted by the Tres Leches Cake, a luscious finish that’s both vegan and gluten-free — a testament to Tumerico’s ability to craft indulgent sweets that don’t compromise health.

What truly lifts Tumerico beyond a typical dining spot is the harmony between nutrition and flavor — the food not only delights the palate but also leaves you feeling light, energized, and cared for. Customers consistently praise the freshness, balanced seasoning, and innovative use of ingredients which avoid the heaviness often associated with Mexican food. As Yasmin G shared, the cuisine “felt amazing after a workout,” while Erica Ryan highlights the lack of greasiness and the welcoming vibe that accompanied her meal.

Each dish is a thoughtfully composed masterpiece, reflecting an ethos that food should heal and nourish inside out. Frequent patron Ben Vosper’s testimony captures this perfectly: “Each time, I was extremely impressed. There are zero flaws in the preparation of each one of the ingredients that come together to create masterpieces on a plate.”

For those curious about vegan Mexican fare or seasoned plant-based eaters looking for fresh inspiration, Tumerico offers a rare combination of authenticity, creativity, and heartfelt service. The blend of bold, traditional Latin spices with superfood ingredients and mindful preparation makes every bite memorable and invigorating.

Whether you come for breakfast burritos, the famed Carne Con Chile Tamales, or a refreshing glass of turmeric lemonade, you’ll leave Tumerico feeling nourished, inspired, and eager to return. It’s more than a restaurant; it’s a vibrant culinary hub where food is medicine, and every guest is family.

Was pleasantly surprised at the vegan menu as a non vegan. The food was fresh, tasted delicious, and felt amazing after a workout. The staff was wonderful and Chef Wendy greeted us with lots of warmth. Grateful to have been able to eat lunch here.

This restaurant is the best vegan Mexican food I have ever had. I loved that it wasn’t greasy and fried. We were welcomed immediately into the space and the menu was explained to us. I wish we could have this type of food in Minnesota! We ordered the nachos and tostadas. We also got the turmeric lemonade. It was delicious! When we got home I went onto the website and watched the interview about the chef and owner. It was so inspiring and beautiful. Congratulations on all of your hard work. It really shows!

Tumerico has earned the honor of being the #1 place to eat in the country. I was invited to eat here for an early lunch, where I ordered tacos that came with salad, rice and beans. Unfortunately, I forgot exactly which tacos I picked they were, but the cashier was nice enough to give me two different ones after I mentioned that I'm not a big fan of spicy food. That was a good choice, because the one with brown meat was my first choice and that was much spicer between the two. The green one, I devoured, loving its mild taste. I was happy that this Latin restaurant had options that sensitive diners like myself could enjoy. I was also gifted with complimentary appetizers, including chips with salsa & guac, along with a bowl of soup. I also tried their Tumerico lemonade that had a little kick of spice than a normal lemonade; I enjoyed it way more than I expected. It's the type of drink that taste better as you consume it, and I was tempted to buy another to take home. The dining area didn't feel cramped at all, and there was a station for more sauces we could put on our food. Of course, I didn't indulge, but the option was nice. There were two gender-neutral bathrooms, which is where I noticed that the walls were covered in paintings for sale. Throughout the restaurant, there were an array of local paintings that guests could pay for; my friends chose one off the wall and all they had to do was pay through Venmo and show the cashier that they were keeping the item before leaving. That's a great way to increase business and support artists in Tucson. I would definitely come here again for its delicious, authentic Latin cuisine, along with their excellent customer service.

For a vegan, I would say the food is 5 stars. For me, I am still trying to adapt to vegan tastes, texture, flavors, etc…therefore, its not there yet. The place is like home when you walk in. People here welcome you like you are one of their family, and it shows in the food, deco, restroom, food portion, etc…would be back again to try other food items.

I have been working near the 6th street location for a few weeks now. A couple times a week, I have come to eat here. Each time, I tried a new dish. Each time, I was extremely impressed. There are zero flaws in the preparation of each one of the ingredients that come together to create masterpieces on a plate. The staff is always welcoming to every customer as well as being helpful guiding people through the menus. Food was delivered to my table surprisingly fast. This restaurant breaks the 5 star scale, deserving a 6th star. I look forward to many more meals here, while knowing the money spent supports a very conscious establishment committed to healthy, tasty, feel good meals and employment for our community. Thank you!

My beautiful friend and I thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful, fresh and delicious lunch earlier today. We both loved our Ropa Vieja plates paired with our iced Prickly Pear lattes, as well as chips and salsa. Fernando, Wendy & the entire staff are incredibly generous, exceptional, warm, attentive and inviting. The decor was wonderful as well and the products and salsa bar are well maintained and look so tasty. We look forwarding to returning in the near future.

Tumerico – Tucson’s Vegan Gem (5/5 Stars) Tumerico is hands-down my favorite restaurant in all of Tucson, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s a must-visit. Owner Wendy is incredibly warm and friendly, and her entire staff follows suit—always helpful, attentive, and eager to make your experience perfect. What sets Tumerico apart is its vegan menu that never feels limited. The daily-changing specials keep things exciting, featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients that burst with flavor. The in-house salsa bar is a highlight—each salsa is vibrant, perfectly balanced, and made with ingredients at their peak. The food is simply out-of-this-world delicious. Every dish is thoughtful, creative, and satisfying in a way that even non-vegans rave about. But it’s not just the food—Wendy has crafted an inviting, joyful atmosphere that makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. If you’re in Tucson, do yourself a favor and go to Tumerico. You’ll leave happy, full, and already planning your next visit.
